KING'S THEATRE. "AMERICAN BEAUTY." ."American Beauty" is till that the name implies. Which means that the picture of that name at tin- Id.ig's Theatre has beautiful Billic Dove, who richly deserves the title in the starring role, a capable east of supporting players ami an excellent story in. which rin abundance of comedy and toadies of drama and pathos are intermingled with skill and adroitness. Adapted from a short story of the same name by Waßtce Irwin;"American Beauty' is the whimsical story of a beautiful girl who has ho money, but conceals the fact behind a screen of pretence in order to catch a millionaire, gives a finished performance finally has the" milrionaire in her net. of course, she discovers he isn't such a ditch after all:
Lloyd Hughes lends his pleasant personality and masculine handsomeness to the leading role opposite Miss Dove. Walter MeGrail, as the millionaire, gives a finished preformvuice, and Lueieii Piivai. a eorriparative newcomer to the screen, stands out in a cdmedy role of Unusual nature. Margaret Livingston, Al St. John, lulyth Clitpmnri; Alice White, Yola d'Avril, Loretta Young, and others, are in support.
"American Beauty" is a Richard Wallace i/fodi.ietibn, -and maintains Lhc usual standard set by that director in recent pictures. The story was adapted to the screen and produced -or First NUt-fdffal Pictures bv Carey Wilson.
