SYDNEY, June 5
That he shot two men from an upstairs window of his home in Sophia Street, Surry Hills, last night, . was alleged against George Thomas Lynch,. 28, dealer, at the Central Police Court this morning, when he was charged with having maliciously wounded John Birmingham an, Harry Newbury. When remanded until Julie 8, Lynch' asked for his bail to, be lightened.
S’ergeant Napper said that it was alleged that at 9 p.xn. yesterday two Inen and a woman went to Lynch’s hbuse and were drinking. An altercation arose, and Newbury, who whs one 1 of the men, left the house, but returned later with some others.
They broke the door in, whereupon Lynch ran upstairs and fired a Winchester repeater rifle through/ the ,window, the bullets taking effect oh Birmingham and Newbury. Mr McMahon', SIM. : The men wci'e' actually breaking into' defendant’s house? That’s something in extenuation !
