J. Fechney, of Ashburton. Tearaway is a brother to the Champagne Stakes Winner Prickles. He is a well-grown colt, who unfortunately has become affected in the wind. His new owner contemplates i using him for utud purposes. A 0 Campbell the ex-South Island" horseman, will be Perle de Leon's rider in the big hurdles at Auckland. * * * The three-year-old colt Homegate, hy Autumnus from Fairhaven, has been purchased from Sir George Clifford by G. Murray Aynsley. * * * Nine of spades is quickly coming to hand under F. Christrnas's care at Riccartoii, and there is every prospect of him standing up to a solid preparation. He was a fair stake earner in, Hawke's Bay, but he went wrong shortly after going •to the South, and had to be given a lengthy spell. * * * Rafa has quietened down since ; being under H. J. Abbott's care, and the Waitara owner-trainer is hopeful of him coming on again. * * * Whenuanui is to be given a lengthy spell on his owner's property at Urenui. * * * At Ellerslie last Tuesday, Corinax and Piet went off together from the new mile post and they were joined at the five furlongs post by The Thorn. They ran the first half mile in 52 2-5, Piet dropping out at this stage.
