MRS C. M. STEWART. SISTER OF BELLY HAYES. (Special to “Post”) AUCKLAND, This Day. Mrs Catherine, Mary Stewart who tiled at Whangaroa. was a sister oi' Ere fariiotis,'South’ Seas Rover, /Bully Hayes. Mrs Stewart was 90 years of ago and Had 1 lived in the north of Auckland all her life. She had six sons add two daughters and. left 75 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchlid ton• Mrs Stewart wa s twice married.

Even in his* young days Bully had a penchant for smuggling, hut he had a witch of a littlg, schooner, and the revenue cutters of those times had difficulty in! pursuing him. ‘
Mr .Smith ■ recalled that there is a! 'small (island (off Whangaroa. where) Bhlly used to dump occasional cargo when the limit became to© hot! On one occasion “Bully’s” father had to pay ,-£2OO in the way of a fine and “Bully” then decided' to try the South Seas.
