FLIGHT TO POLE

King’s Bay reports state that the north-west gale was so adverse that Col. Nobile was unable to carry out his full plans aT the Pole. It was impossible to land' because the anchor would not have held and they could not drop the Pope’s wooden commemorative cross or the Italian flag.
In a wireless message at eleven in the morning they announced that they were flying over unexplored parts of North Greenland and on arriving at King’s Bay at midnight they found the city beflagged.-Aus-tralian Press Assn.
