Mr G-. A. Maddison, Mayor of Hastings, has been elected president of the New Zealand Rugby Union. Master T. Lawson, son of Mr and Mrs T. Lawson, arrived this morning from Auckland for his vacation. Mr W. Hoskin, of Manoys Ltd, left this afternoon for Tangarakau, in connection with the opening of a branch of the firm's business. Mrs R. Anderson, who lias been on a visfit to her parents, Mr and .Mrs It. Richardson, of Stratford, left by the mail train this morning on return to her home at Ohristohurch. Mr T. W. Rhodes, Reform M.P. for Thames, will not contest that seat at the forthcoming election, but may stand for the new [Hauraki electorate. Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P., is to be asked to stand for Thames. Mr L. Hulbert, eon of Mr J. Hulbert, of Stratford, who was seriously injured in the Waimate-Ha-wera football match on Saturday last, is now reported to be out of danger. ); :V -.\^ :< ..
