COMING INTO ITS OWN.
Stratford is at last being . recognised as a place which ig suitable for holding picnics and such like functions arranged by organisations in other towns. Thig is largely due to a forward move made by the local civic authority some little time ago when circulars setting forth this town's attractions were sent out. . Yesterday a railway picnic was held here, when a special train arrived from New Plymouth bearing a large number of excursionists. From all accounts they had an excellent time and were well pieased. During the week-a school picnic from Waitara will take 'place in Stratford, and as time goes on the facilities Offering will be even more extensively used. Stratford is gradually coming into its own, and the somewhat deep-rooted idea prevailing outside ''ihat it had little in the way of attractions to offer i s being dispelled. This town has much to be proud of Kn its parks, and other beauty spots, -while as a shopping centre, it has nothing to fear from comparison with other towns. People from other places are beginning to realise this, and the more of them who can be induced to come here the better it -will be for the community.
