CLAY BIRD SHOOTING
STRATFORD GUN CLUB. Since the success of the Stratford Gun Club’s team at Palmerston North last mouth, when they annexed the C.A.C. Challenge Cup, there has been a revival of interest in shooting at ,the trap. This was in evidence particularly on Thursday Afternoon, when in two of the com'petitions, ten shooters stepped on to their marks. The weather was favourable, there being an absence of wind, while the light was g°°d. b 0 that specially good scores were registered? There was keen competition between members, and the shoot proved to be one ot The most successful and enjoyable held for some months. In the' first shoot, there was a tie with il bre'aks out of 12, A. Nelson and B. Green heading the scores, while F. Whittle had 10 io his crtiiil, with four other competitor registering 9 each. In No, 2, shoot, three possibles (T*) Cere recorded, the - successful i ghuiVimi being A. Nelson, F. Whittle land J. Petrie, while three others scored 10 each ami one (iad 9 to his credit. Two doubk-rse competition, (two flays being thrown at mice) were held, and the' shooting was also remarkably good. In one, )‘, Green broke 11 out of 12, and F. Whittle •8, with three others 7 each. In the second shoot under similar conditions, J. Petrie broke 8, with F. 'Whittle and J. Winiki close up (7 each). ■ It is interesting to note some of the individual aggregates. The president (A. Nelson) was in particularly good form, breaking 23 out of 24 clays in succession, while F. Whittle was 2 down and J. Petrie 1 down. B. Green’s score of 17 out of 24 in the two double-rise rhoots will probably stand us a record for some. time. Following are the detailed results: No. 1 sweep, 12 birds.— A. Nelson '(handicap 16) 11, B.
