DAMAGE TO EYE. COMPENSATION GRANTED. WELLINGTON. Friday] Injuries sustained by 'Ellen Mpllournby, while .working for Dorothy Levin, a costumier of Wellington, in March last, formed the subject of a for compensation in the Arbitj ration Court to-day-.of,claim set out that pfanrafT was "employed by. defendant at a salary of £7 .per week and that, on March, 2. as she was about to take a ppstonier’s measure, she flicked down a tape measure which was hanging over a petition, and the brass end became entangled or caught. She jerked it. with the result that, it came hack suddenly and struck her left eve. As she wus totally disabled, for 15 weeks. Her eye was seriously > and permanently damaged, and accordingly she claimed the maximum weekly compensation (£4), and sought further a, suspensory award of’ Id per week to preserve her right to further compensation, should the condition of the eye at any timei detorjorabe. , V ■■ ' After a brief, retirement, the Court gave judgment for the plaintiff for the amount claimed (£6O), with costs £lO 10s and witnesses’ expenses. T'ho Court allowed' also a susepnsory award to preserve plaintiff's right to further compensation, if the eye’ s condition became- worse. • - -
