THE TARANAKI UNION;

MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE.

Mr J. McLeod presided over the meeting; of management committee of the. Taranaki Rugby Union last night. Also present were Messrs E. H. Young, TV. H. Moyes, F. M. Whyte, R, R. Tyrer, J. Paterson. J. Garcia, 4 and the secretary (Mr S. E. Ncilson)" RUSH UNION MATCH. The Bush Union wrote acceptin' the terms for a: match against Tara naki. They will arrive on Friday July 2. and- will leave on the return journey on the Sunday atter the match. HAWKE’S BAY MATCH. The Chairman announced- that tin Union had been successful in arranv ing a match with Hawke’s Bay. This would take place in Hawora on July T. STRATFORD—INGLEWOOD POST PONEMENT. In connection with the Inglewood Stratford match which was postponed on May 22, the Inglewood Domain Board advised that in future the Inglewood Football Club would be not) fled not later than 10.30 a.m. on the day on which there was a. fixture for a match if it was considered bv thBoard that the ground was unplayable. In view of the circumstances it was considered that the Board could not see its way dear to contribute towards any expenses incurred as a result of the dosing of the Parion May 22. It was decided to request the Ingle wood Club to arrange for th© Ingle wood-Stratford match to be played on a suitable Thursday, WELLINGTON MATCH. It ivas decided to advise the Wellington Union that Taranaki could not send a team to play at Wellington this year, but that it wa,s hoped the match could be played during the southern tour next year. REINSTATEMENTS. On the application of the Stratford Club H. Hinton was granted reinstatement from senior to first junior. On the application of the Opunake Club W, Gorton was granted reinstatement from senior to first junior. E, M. Owen was granted a transfer from Athletic to Opunake. On the application of th© Stratford Club the reinstatements of A. Collins and 'A. J. Burns from senior to first junior wer© granted. The Stratford Club wrote stating that the Celtic Onb had asked that th© Union reconsider the reinstatement of McCullough. Th© Stratford Club made no recommendation and the Union saw no reason to alter their previous decision. A protest from- the Okaiawa- fourth grade team against the Waimate fourth team on the grounds that the-v were playing an Okaiawa Mail’ was missed. A WEDNESDAY CASE.

Mr A. H. Guy reported that on Wednesday. Mav hr hud had occasion to order a Citv r>l.av«T and a. Tokaora pi aver off the field. had both com© to blows on the field but the affair did not amount to much. Mr Guy suggested that a caution would meet the case. The Chairman said fib© Secretary had written to the Weduesdav “SubUnion,” asking for an explanation. Mr Guy: I believe the Sub-Union have suspended the players for a fortnight, hut I don’t think they have the power to do so. Til© Chairman thought it a. pity that the referee had recommended a caution, otherwise they could stand them d'Hvn until an explanation wa;s forthcoming. On the motion of the Chairman it was decided to caution the- players. It was further resolved to inform the 'Wednesday competition executive that it had been reported to the Tlpirtu that the players in euestion had been dealt with by the Wednesday Committee, and to point out that the Union itself was the only body empowered to deal with such cases. STRATFORD JUNIOR STOOD DOWN". Mr A. J. Brown, referee of the third grade match between Toko and Stratford, wrote as follows: “Daring the playing of the match I regret to say that I on© of _ the Stratford players, Collins (captain of the team) off the ground for using foul and filthy language oVcr on G . of my rulings, which I strongly resent.” A letter from Collins was as follows: “On May 27th when Stratford third grade played Toko at Toko I was having a kick at a goal, mv cousin was holding the ball when a Toko plaver kicked it out of his hand. I appealed to the referee who said tho ball was on the ground, and when I was nmniiw back I said to mv cousin; “The hall wa.s over a mile off the ground.” Then th© referee told me to go off the field.
