CONSTRUCTION WORK PROGRESSES. ERECTION OF STATIONS. The Public Works Statement also deals with the construction of the Opunake branch railway. The vote for the coming year is £64,500. Lastyear £75,000 wag voted and £*53,824 was spent. The whole of the formation and platelaying works will be completed, and tenders will shortly bo. invited for the erection of station-buildings at the first six stations. Others will be provided for during the year. The whole of the works on this lino should bo completed within eighteen months from the present time.
