"QUIN NIGHT" AT ELTHAM. PRESENTATION OF PRIZES. It was “Quin Night’’ at the Jvltham Qolf Club’s final dance of the season in the Parish Hall on Wednesday night (reports the Argus). The weather was propitious, but the hall was all tee small for the big crowd of dancers and their friends. Mr J. Li. Campbell, who was M.C., said the dance was not o'hly a windup to the season but a welcome to their champion, Mr Leo. Quin. (Applause.) It must lie satisfactory to all to know that the club had a good golfer. At all times had Mr Quin held up the club’s end, but at the New Zealand amateur championships he had succeeded further. They would all agree with him that Kith a-m was proud of its New Zear land champion. The first presentation was of a, framed photograph of the champion to Mr and Mrs Jack Quin, as a mark of the club’s appreciation of their efforts for the club. They had allowed the club a privilege not equalled in New Zealand, of permitting its memlrers to play over their course.

Mrs Forsyth then ■ presented the handsome photograph, taken by Mr N\ D. Connell, to Miss Lucy Quin, on behalf of hev parents. Mr Leo Quin was applauded on rising to reply. He said the last time he. had spoken at a similar I'unetion of the Eltbam Golf Club he was runner-np in the club championship. His pleasure at being the Dominion champion was' great. When lie left Eltham for Auckland he thought he would give the ex-champion a good fight, but he did not expect to win the championship. Golfers would find it difficult playing at outside provincial links as the courses were so much larger in all' respects. That was why Taran.fki golfers were usually so far down the lists. Also, the courses were not. cared for in the same way. On behalf of the family, be thanked the club heartily for the presentation. The following club prizes wore also presented by Mrs Forsyth; Senior ladies’ championship, Miss Muriel. Quin; runuer-up, Miss Lucy Qnin ; junior championship, Mrs Carter; runuer-up, Miss Richards; Saturday bogey .matches, Miss M. Quin; other bogey matches, Miss Hilda Wilson; medal round, Miss Carucross; senior eclectic, Miss Quin; mixed foursomes, Mrs Wanklyn ami Mr Dale; senior championship, , Mr Leo Qnin; runner-tip Sir Jimmy, Qnin; “B grade, Mr E. E. Carter;. runner-up, Mr Frank Belcher; junior championship, Mr A. Dqbson; runner-up.
