HIGH,SCHOOLS MATCH. The schools match yesterday afternoon between Stratford and I' eilding was an interesting exhibition and a good deal of interest- was taken 1 in dt. Mr 0. Gray refereed., Stratford was fortunate in having a useful back line, of which Allen and Cot--tier were the best. H. Davies, at half, has the makings of a fine player.. The outstanding forwards were A. and H, Thomas and W. Pearce, but the whole vanguard played excellently. For Feilding Bramwell, Mansen and Pearce made a fine attacking trio. Mickleson and Simpson played great forward games, and wore ably, supported by Smith (rover). Taking full advantage of the galei in the first spell, Feilding . kicked high and usually gained much ground, but the Strafford defence was very sure. The first spell ended: Feilding 3 (penalty goal), Stratford 0. I -
On resuming Stratfftrd at once invaded. From a passing rush ■ Phillips (Stratford) gathered up and scored. Thomas’ kick failed. Allen (Stratford), who had been playing -a/ fine game, came with a rush from behind, and picking up quickly, dived over. His' kick at goal fell short. Towards the end of the spell 1 Alger (Stratford) scored a fine try from the loose, and A. Tlfomas converted. Stratford 11, Feilding 3. > Algfife: tbroughoiii. played, ,a .good defensive game. 1 Hewitt and Sullivan also showed merit, and were m. credit to their team.
