Mr J. C. Robins, district manager of the Public Trust OQlce, has been notified that he has been appointed Registrar ■ of Births, Heaths and Marriages for the Stratford d strict as from September Ist.

The many friends of Mr H. Wong, who was formerly in business in Patea, will be interested to learn (states the Press) that lie is at present taking part in the fighting in China with the army of Dr. Sun Yat Sen, in which he holds a captain’s commission.

Mr R. Norrie, who has been accountant of the Bank of New Zealand’s branch at Raetihi for the last three years, has been trasferred to Hamilton. Mr Norrie, who was president of the Raetihi Golf Club, was farewelled on Wednesday evening.

On arrival at San Francisco Mr Massey will become the guest of the United States Government for his journey across the continent. He will pay a visit to White House, Washington, and later will embark on the Majestic from New York. He arrives in London on September 29, the conference opening on October 1.

Mr J. L. Davies, who has been superintendent of the high-power station at Awanul for some time, is taking up the duties as wireless inspector for the Government. Mr Davies is well known throughout Australasia as a high authority cn all matters pertaining to ra*.io work. Mr Geo. Robins', who has been in charge of the station at the G.P.0., Auckland, has been appointed inspector for Auckland province.

Miss Rosina Buckman and Mr Maurice D’Oisly spent last Good Friday at Niagara Falls, so Mr D’Oisly states in a private letter to a friend in Auckland, and that they were surrounded by snow and ice everywhere. They were accompanied by Captain Wilkinson, of the English cricket team, and his wife. They afterwards spent a fortnight in New York, and heard a great deal, of good music, and also met many old friends amongst the artists at the Metropolitan Opera House.

Following the appointment of Mr N. C. Kensington (chief draughtsman) as Chief Surveyor and Commissioner of Crown Lands at Nelson, Mr P. R. Wilkinson, late of the Auckland office, has been appointed chief draughtsman at Blenheim, and Mr A. P. Waters, of the New Plymouth office, has been appointed chief draughtsman at Nelson. Mr V. C. Bosselmann, of the Public Works Department/ has been promoted-to be drainage engineer at Ruatangata, Mr C. A. Gordon, draughtsman, of Wellington, becomes ,land transfer draughtsman at Wellington.
