The Flax Industry
GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY WANTED.
Per Press Association
Levin, August 29. r
A representative meeting at Shannon last night passed the following resolution:
"That this representative meeting of residents of Shannon and the surrounding districts, strongly urge the Government to grant a sufficient subsidy to carry on the experimental flax work started in this district, as we are firmly convinced that the increased' revenue resulting will more than compensate the Government for the. outlay, and that at the same time one of the chief exports, at present threatened .with extinction, will be preserved." \
