In connection with the Irish elections there was a sharp fustilade early this morning in Dublin, owing to an attack upon Free State troops. There was also some hand to hand fighting between crowds in Waterford, but otherwise tho day passed quietly and almost tamely. A feature in Dublin was the number of charabanc trips to the seaside, people preferring to leave town rather than vote under the protection of the military patrols who wero guarding the polling stations and the armed cycle patrols in the streets. A procession at Wilford supporting Captain Redmond (an Tndepend ent candidate) came into" conflict with a crowd attending a meeting where Mr. Cofg-ave w.\n fcrfeiking and in the ro.-:u!'ant disorder the editorial office of a Republican newspaper was hu ned to the ground. Finally, plain-cl ithes policemen fired a blank volley, stampeding the crowds.
