The Stratford Affiliated Settlors’ Association held its quarterly meeting in the Council Chambers, Whangamomona, on Monday, 20th August. There were present Messrs L. Sutton (chairman), T. E. Trask, secretary, (Kphuratahi), A. Dagg (Whangarnomoua), and E. Callaghan (Aotuhia.). A lot of business was before the meeting, the majority of which had to be held over for the annual meeting, owing to the late hour at which the meeting commenced. It was decided that in future meetings should he held at a convenient hour in the daytime.

The seecretary reported that no reply had come to hand from the Valuer-General to o request Lorn the Affiliation for a reduction in the unimproved land value for the Whangamomona County Council and it was decided that in future communications should go through the Member for the district. It was out of consideration for the Member, who, it fas considered, should not be overtaxed with work, that it had not, been done in this* instance. Satisfaction yas expressed that an assistant noxious weeds inspector and rabbit inspector had been appointed a R a result of the Association’s efforts.

The secretary was directed to get into touch with the PostmasterGeneral, asking that telephone offices throughout the district, should bo open for the transaction of business beweei* the hours of 7 p.m. and 8 p.rn. This concession would bo much appreciated by the farming community and business people generally.
