Per Press datlon

Auckland, August 24

The ship remains at the anchorngj© and her 140 passengers and mails were transferred to the Niagara, which leaves to-night. The cause of the trouble wa s the presence of a non-unionist in the stoke-hold. Upon the vessel’s return to harbour this man said he would sign off, but the men then mad© a now grievance. They refused to sail with Oaptaiin Guff, presumably because ho had ordered the ringleader off th© bridge when he arrived to make a complaint when the ship was leaving the wharf. Tire thirty-on© stokers have been arrested on a charge of refusing duty on the high seas, their disobedience having taken place outside the three mile limit, and they will come before the court to-morrow 1 .
