A Nelson message reports the death of Mr Emmanuel Demant, aged 70, manager for Ross ana Glendining. He was well-known in commericl circles.

Visitors to Stratford at present Include Mr and Mrs Henry Cooper and daughter, of Reefton, who are the guests of Mr and Mrs Charles Martin, Mrs Cooper being a sister of Mrs Martin, Mr Cooper is a very old resident of Reefton, and is paying his first visit to Taranaki. The visitors are greatly interested in the They have been fortunate In seeing Mount Egmont in one of his wildest hut most charming modes, the great snow mantle of winter now falling down to the foothills. They were also particularly struck with such uniformly good roads. The visitors leave Stratford on Friday for Auckland before returning home.
