Communists, at Dattcjla, nineteen miles north-oast of Bsseii, stormed the city hall, disarmed the police and took charge of the town. The militia, summoned to render assistance were similarly treated. Both sides suffered heavy casualties'. A mob captured tho town of Helmstodt, and the municipal services in Leipzig have been paralysed by the strikes. Tho unrest in the. Ruhr is due to the shortage of food, and the Government is dispatching large quantitiesi of fats. 'lt is now announced that Herr Hoehle (Centre Party) has been appointed Minister of Posts and Telegraphs. PREMIER'S LIFE THREATSNED. ALLEGED FRIEND OF FRANCE. (Received 11.5 a.m.) | Berlin, August 17. Herr Stressemann continues to be attacked by tho Communists and the Extreme Nationalists, who predict the same fate as Erzeberger and Rathenau. Pan-Germans accuse him of being a friend of France, and do not hesitate to foretell his murder.
