Wilford (Loaler of the Opposition), Mr Massey said he would be pleased to lay before the House a list of the unexhausted authorities to borrow. The list was quite a b!g one, but unfortunately it did n< t necessfarily apply to present conditions and he would have to ask for further authority to borrow quite a large sum for the Advances Department and something tor public works. Replying to Mr J. A. Nash (Palmers ton North), Mr Mansey said he would do everything po>sib>e to expedite the progress payments*" on houses beincc built with money raised from the Advances Department. He believed the cost of building; was coming down and plans he had in his room indicated that a good fiveroomed house could be built for £OOO. Leave of absence was granted to tho Hon. D. H.
