Already there are 31G candidates for 153 seats in Dail Eireann, made up of Government Party 101, Republicans sixty-one, Farmer's fiftyseven, Labor forty-eight, Independents forty-two and business men seven. The final tcial may reach 330. De Valera will be allowed to participate without let. or hindrance and he addresses the electors at Clare, on Wednesday. The Republicans have established headquarters in Suffolk Street, Dublin, -the Government raising no objection. The election is unique in Irish history, because the register of electors is the largest known. Proportional repreaantaition will bo used and there is such multiplicity of parties that it is prophesied the Government will retain a good working majority. The Farmers' Union hopes to be the second strongest party and Labor hopes to strengthen its position. Polling is fixed for August 27 and the new] I>-i-i 1 will meet on September 19.
