TARANAKI CHAMPIONSHIP. FINAL TO BY CLIFTON. '* . I Clifton (Northern winners) defeated Okaiawa (Southern winners) in the final of the Taranaki championship yesterday by eleven points to nil. The game proved, a hard-fought one, play being mostly confined to the forwards, but while the game was fast it was not spectacular. The Clifton forwards proved too mod for their opponents and gave *••. Okaiawa backs little chance to gett moving, whilst the Clifton backs were very safe. The better team won, and they are to be congratulated on winning the champ'onsh'.p after having filled the position of runner-up on several occasions. The teams were: — • '.'. As a, curtain-raiser to the championship final at Eltham yesterday a match was played between teams representing the Eltham School and surrounding country schools, Eltbam winning by three points (a try by Casey) to nil.
