BOROUGH CASn STOLEN. GELIGNITE USED ON SAFE. Per Pres* Association. Whakatane, August 9. The Whakatane council chambers were burglariously entered during the night. The strong room was blown open, and £B7 in cash taken, the cheques being left in tho cash box. . An attempt to open the inside safe failed. Tho burglars obtained gelignite fom the magazine at the council's quarry.
