"RED TRIANGLE DAY."

"R«d Triangle Day" for tb<j Stratford district has been fixed by the local War Committer of the Y.M.C.A. for March 23rd, so as to give a clear months' interval from the Wounded Soldiers' Day. In connection with certain rumours that have been circulated, the National Secretary of the Y.M.C.A. writes to Mr T. H. Penn, the secretary of the local committee, as follows:—"I wish to give an emphatic denial of any statements that may be made that funds are being used for local association work, or are being hoarded up for the erection of buildings after the war, either in large towns or smaller centres. Every penny <d money subscribed for our war fund is to be expended for the direct benefit of our soldiers, in training camps, in England, and in,the war area;:. No public money whatever is allocated for the ordinary needs of any association. Such is not authorised by the New Zealand Government, which controls this aspect of administration of the funds. Every shilling contributed to our Field-Service Fund is allocated for the direct benefit and well-being of New Zealand soldiers. The fund is governed by some.of the leading business men of New Zealand, and our account books are audited monthly by Messrs Watkins, Hull, Hunt and Wheeler, (auditors and public accountants of Wellington.) Our treasurer is Captain D. A. Ewan of the firm of Sargood, Son and Ewan of Wellington. You can give emphatic denial to statements such as referred to by you." The local committee, which consists of Messrs J. MsAllister J. W. Boon, J. Masters, C. D. Sole, and T. H. Penn, is absolutely satisfied that the whole sum collected will be used for the benefit of the boys at the front.
