Dingle, who is confined to bis home through ill-health. EXEC UTi VE’S REPORT. The executive reported as follows: Sub-committees have been set up to revise the schedule and now report progress. The report handed in by the chairman of the pig section contains a suggestion that exhibitors he requested, to deliver pigs not later than 5.30 in the evening prior to the first day. The report from the steward in charge of weight-guessing states that arangements have been made with Air Geo. Smith, of Mr Newton King’s staff, to find a fat hnllock and fat sheep, also with Mr Rutledge for fat pigs. A working bee was held on the Show Grounds, and the damaged netting from the oval has been removed and sold by auction, also a culvert has been put in on the lower stock entrance to fake off stor n water. The grounds are in first-class condition and the grass promises to he 'plentiful for show stock. A subcommittee was set up to carry out the function in connection with the opening of - the - new Tea Rooms, and arrangements made by them left nothing to he desired. The large building was filled to overflowing. The Alpha light, which was installed by the kindness of Newton King, proved all that was claimed for it. 'the sura of £l4, after paying all expenses in connection with the concert and dance, has been placed to the credit of the Association. Thanks are due to al! those who worked to make the affair a success. 3 lie Show dates for this year have been fixed for the 23th and 29th Novmher. All members are asked to forward their annual subscriptions, as early as possible, as they are now due for the present year. REMIT RE DEFAULTERS. The following remit from the annual conference of the N.Z. Council of Agriculture in July last was read: “That, to encourage xinity and friendly relations among associations, it he [i recommendation to secretaries that

they advise the secretary of the Show following theirs, of any defaulter, especially among the side-shows, and that until the indebtedness he paid that they be not allowed on the ground.’’—lt was stated that all the side-shows paid last year.

SUGGESTIONS. The question of providing feedbuckets for the stock was discussed. | One member remarked that i-ouie people went to the show with nono and arrived home with about three. Another side of the story was presented when a member said he went to the show with one, hut came homo without it. Mr Jackson moved that boxes be provided. ' Mr Jones said that by taking off the side, instead of the top, a benzine box would do.—The matter was left to the committee. Air T. Ranford moved, and Air E. H. Linncll seconded, that a notice be put up requesting exhibitors not to J wash cloths or brushes in tho drink-' ing troughs.—Carried. | Doctors’ and invalids’ cars are to | he allowed in and out of the main gates. ! Air Linnell moved that the condi-j tions in the schedule should be strictly adhered to. Last year he put in an entry in the fanners’ utility horse class, in which the conditions were, that the horse he driven in 'harness ! and ridden over brush fence three fejbt high. He had trained his horse, a light milk carter, to jump, hut he found that there were draught horses entered in the class, and the judge said that he must be in tha wrong class. He drew attention to the clause about jumping, and the. judge said it must he a misprint. Air Sliotter said he knew it was not an error, hut they were trying to please the people. A utility horse was one to ride, jump, or do anything else. Air Jackson said a utility horse was not a hurdler. Mr Alar fell said that in the case] under review the conditions should have been adhered to as a matter of principle. He did not think they should have such a motion on the hooks. The Chairman said it would tie up the executive. The mover agreed to withdraw the motion, and tho matter will he brought under the notice of the schedule committee. Mr Orr said they should have an assistant judge for the grade stock. As one man could not get through the cattle in time, the cows were not milked till late in the day, and this did not do them any good . Mr Jackson said they should have a second judge. Stratford was dif-! ferent from any other show in New j Zealand, as they probably had a larg- j er entry of grade cattle than any of \ the others. An extra judge would get j over the difficulty. j The question was referred to the 1 cattle committee. A motion by Air Jones to cut out all classes in which the entries had ! not paid for the prize money was not agreed to; it was pointed out that such a move would make a sweeping reduction in the number of classes. Mr Alarfell said that classes which repeatedly did not draw entries should he deleted, though he did not think they should judge the question on the entries in any one year’s schedule. ( Air Pettigrew stated that the prize money of the Home Industries exceedeel tho entrance fees by £23. NEW MEAIBERS. The following were elected mem-, hers of the Association: AV. Al. Me-!
