THE CHEESE INDUSTRY.
FACTORY FOR ROBSON ROAD. The Chairman of the Eltham Dairy Company (Mr E. D. Forsyth), speaking at the annual meeting on Saturday with reference to the Robson Road Creamery and the wish of the suppliers to have a cheese, factory said the directors had received a proposal to erect a factory at ; the Waihapi Road. 'At the present time the Waihapi Road rah parrallel with the Wingrove Road and some of the Company’s suppliers were there. They were certainly entitled to consider their shareholders, but in the same locality the Stratford Dairy Company had a creamery (Robson Road). He did not desire to go right up against the Stratford Company, but it was pointed out to him and his directors that the suppliers on that road were desirous of having- cheese plant installed He did not desire that they should put up a factory and then line! Stratford doing likewise across the road. He advised the Robson Road suppliers to approach their own company (Stratford) and see if they would oblige l them. This was evidently abortive and delegates waited on a directors’ meeting of the Eltham Company and decided to abide by certain
agreements. In the face of this understanding, their company had agreed to set up a cheese plant on the NVaihapi Road. Ifc was a good district, and he believed it would prove a good business proposition tor the suppliers there and the company. lniMU'.t! I ;— ix-t. -
