TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB.

The Taranaki Jockey Club’s summer meeting promises to supply some capital racing. Although most of the horses engaged are trained in the Province, winners are well concealed, and each event bears ah open appearance.

Racing will open with the Huatoki Plate, which has received nineteen entries. The Waverley trainer, Gardiner, has.three engaged, viz., Fisher, Calais, and Ridicule. The writer expects the former to. be the “pen,” and if, so,' Fisher will take no end of beating. The fashionabiy-hred J)i Gama has ; the ireputation of being a fair horse and should run well. A baker’s dozen remain in the Stewards’ Hack. Play-off and Toateije ~aro nicely handicapped, and should carry a lot of money. . i •. .* f
