WEST’S PICTURES. Considering the many other counter attractions, there was a very fair attendance at the Town Hall last night co witness the exceptional picture treat provided by the Wests. A fine selection of scenic films of onr own .uuiitry were shown, and were much appreciated, including coaching roads, t rivers, and a fine picture of the fa-" .nous “Pelorus Jack.” The comic pictures included “Ah Sing and the Greasers,” “Crazy Apples,” arid the “Magic Flute,” which were exceedingly funny. West’s pictures will again be sh6wn at the Town Hall on Wednesday next, when there will be ah entire change of programme. HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. As indicated in yesterday’s issue, the picture programme submitted at His Majesty’s Theatre last night was i remarkably fine one, and every number screened was received with great ipplause. Among the best of lilms was “An Exile’s Dove,” depicting the straits of a Russian Count, whose estates had been confiscated, leaving aim penniless. He takes service as a gardener, falls in love with his employer’s daughter, and just when he is about to be turned out in disgrace, news is received of his reinstatement iu the Czar’s favour—marriage and >liss. “Ramona,” a tale of Indian life, was remarkably well acted throughnit, and gave a good insight into the cowardly abuse of the Red man by the whites. In these days when Imperial defence forms such a prominent topic of discussion, C. B. Fry’s ship Mercury, dealing with the training of i large number of boys, was most inierosting and instructive. ‘Winter Sports at St. Mauritz” was also a >;ood number. In the comic element, “Drowsy Dick’s Dream” was sidesplitting, and the same might be said >f ‘'Tweedledum’s Sleeping Sickness.” fho programme will be repeated to•dglit and to-morrow night. Mr. ■ Gould, of Broadway, occupied flic lucky seat, for which lie receh ed Tom the management the promised •;uinea. • : To-morrow afternoon there will be > matinee, and the child occupying the ’achy seat will be presented with a beautiful doll.
