Cloudy and Cold (Special) WELLINGTON, August 8 Following is the special forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office this evening for the period ending 5 pan. tomorrow: — There is a complex depression over New Zealand. Winds fresh or strong from an easterly quarter. The weather cloudy and cold, with occasional rain developing and becoming heavier.
The weather in Invercargill yesterday was cold and cloudy, with a strong easterly wind. The weather at one o’clock this morning was cold and clear, with a moderate easterly wind. The barometer reading was 29.92 inches (falling). The Tides.— High water, Bluff, 2.56 a.m., 3.21 p.m.; Invercargill, 3.37 a.m., 4.02 p.m.; Riverton, 1.56 a.m., 2.21 p.m.; Qreti Beach, 2.05 a.m., 2.30 p.m., Hie Sun.—Rises, 7.59 a.m.; sets, 5.47 pan. • . RAINFALL (From our observer at the airport, by courtesy of the Public Works Department).— No rain was recorded for the 24 hours ended at 5 pan. yesterday.
