FOOD FOR HUNGRY BELGIANS
Arrival Of 10,000 Tons Of Supplies (Rec. 10.30 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 15. A Belgian ship carrying 10,000 tons of food arrived at Antwerp, reports the Brussels correspondent of Reuter’s. This means that Belgium has turned the corner after the recent food and fuel crisis. The vessel is the first of many food ships. Imports expected from the Belgian Congo are 12,000 tons of coffee, 6000 tons of sugar, 2000 tons of cattle fodder, 1000 tons of fresh fruit, and 35,000 tons of zinc and minerals. A National Food Committee has been established under the presidency of M. Leon Delsinne, the Minister of Food. M. Ernest Ronvaux, the Minister of Communications, announced that a great part of Belgium’s rolling stock was being repaired, and railway passenger services would soon be increased. The conflict continues between the Socialists and the Leftists concerning Socialist participation in the Government, says the correspondent.
