BAND PROGRAMME ON NEW YEAR’S EVE
A request by the Battalion Band for permission to play a programme of music between 10.30 p.m. and midnight on New Year’s Eve outside the Post Office was refused by the City Council at its meeting last night. The decision was made on the recommendation of the Works Committee, which reported that it had consulted the city traffic inspector on the subject. It was decided to inform the band that it would have permission to play in Esk street as usual.
