MONTGOMERY VISITS LONDON
Field-Marshal Receives Baton (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) LONDON, December 4. Field-Marshal Sir Bernard Montgomery recently returned to London to receive his field-marshal’s baton from the King. Field-Marshal Montgomery drove to Buckingham Palace in a closed car. The Court reporter of the Press Association says that the King welcomed Field-Marshal Mongtomery warmly. The ceremony took only a-quarter of an hour, but the Field-Marshal stayed on for an hour and a-quarter, discussing the future of the campaign with the King.
