SUCCESSFUL ANGLICAN CHURCH FETE A successful Anglican Church fete was held in the Winton Radio Hall. During the afternoon good business was done on the various stalls. In the evening a programme was given by the following: Song and dance, Easter Parade, by Sunday School children; ballet, Miss M. Hamilton’s pupils; Russian ballet song and toe dance, Miss Harvey, Browns; songs, Miss Hitch and the Rev. Mr Bianchi. The entertainment concluded with an enjoyable play by the women of the Holy Trinity Church, Invercargill, entitled “The Willing Horse,” cast as follows: Miss Kate Wilkes, Mrs L. Hitch; Jane Fraser, Mrs C. Jackson; Mrs Goodman, Mrs J. Peterson; Mrs King, Mrs Knight; Mrs Reading, Mrs J. Pedlar; Mrs Francis, Mrs Murdock; Helen Rayner, Mrs C. Holloway. This play won the Sir Michael Myers Cup for the best play produced under the auspices of the British Drama League in Wellington in 1941, as well as the cup for the best play by a New Zealand author. As a result of the effort more than £lOO was raised for the church funds.
