Clothes in Wartime
The question whether the services of a women’s clothes designer were necessary in wartime, was raised at a sitting of the Auckland Manpower Committee when an appeal by Mrs S. R. Storry against the direction of an employee, Mary Frances Cebalo, to another firm was heard. The appellant said that Miss Cebalo was an artist who drew designs for women’s garments. Members of the committee suggested that women could do with more simple clothes in wartime. The appeal was dismissed. ■'
