QUEEN’S PARK CLUB

In a Stableford aggregate match played by the Queen’s Park Golf Club on Saturday the best scores were: C. W. Francis and C. White 62, G. A. Patterson and H. V. Richards 61, G. B. Millar and H. P. Brooks 61, E. Checketts and U. Smith 61. A Stableford match played during the weekend was won by C. Clarke with 33 points. MATCH AT GORE A four-ball bogey match was played at Gore on Saturday under windy conditions. The winners were C. L. Barron and E. J. Crosbie. The Gore Golf Club’s championship plate competition, which is being conducted by the club for the duration of the war in place of the club championships, was decided yesterday. A high wind hampered the competitors and affected the standard of play. Small fields took part in both senior and junior sections. C. R. Barron with a score of 179 won the senior section. Barron did the first round in 91, and the second in 88. L. G. Thomson and C. W. Adamson with scores of 187 were the runners-up. Thomson won this section last year with a score of 175.

J. T. Taylor won the junior section with 198. He took 100 for the first round and 98 for the second. W. F. Young with 214 was runner-up; HENEY WINS WINTON CHAMPIONSHIP

In the final of the championship of the Winton Golf Club E. O. Heney beat F. Lindsay over 36 holes by 7 and 6. The players were all square at the end of the first 13 holes, but after that Heney steadily gained the ascendancy. Heney has been playing very good golf all season. Before he went on active service overseas he was on a handicap of plus 2 and was one of the best golfers in the South Island. He was invalided home after the evacuation of Crete.

In the final of the B grade championship G. King beat J. Greenall 5 and 4. In a Stableford match the best scores were:—G. Lindsay 29, F. Lindsay 28, E. Heney 26.
