In a women’s indoor basketball match on Saturday Otago bpat Southland by 22 points to 11. The game opened with Otago on attack, but Southland gained possession and scored after a passing rush. The ball then travelled swiftly into the Southland goal area and Otago scored. Up and down play followed, each side scoring a goal, Otago then intensified their attacks and after a good passing movement scored two goals in succession, making the half-time scores 12-11 in favour of Otago. In the second half Southland rallied from time to time, but Otago’s superior combination was the deciding factor. A series of B grade matches resulted as follows: Dunedin beat Queenstown by 12 to 11, Otago beat Southland by 14 to 10, and Queenstown beat Southland by 16 to 10.
