Schools Not To Be Closed

No fresh cases of infantile paralysis were notified in Invercargill yesterday. The question of closing the schools because of tljo cases of infantile paralysis in Invercargill was raised by a suggestion from a school committee placed before the executive of the Southland Education Board yesterday. The chairman of the board (Mr S. Rice) and Mr W. Bell, who is, also chairman of the Southland High Schools Board, interviewed the medical officer of health (Dr K. J. H. Davies), who expressed the opinion that there was no necessity for closing the schools at the present time.. He stated that the position was being closely watched and if the necessity arose action would be taken at once.
