CARPENTER DIES OF INJURIES

(P.A.) ASHBURTON, February 13. William James Johnstone, aged 44, a carpenter, belonging to Springburn, and a married man with three children, died on the way to hospital as the result of a collision between his motor-car and a truck at Springburn yesterday. Mrs Johnstone, a child and another woman in the car suffered shock and abrasions and they are now in hospital, their condition being satisfactory.

CHILD KILLED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, February 23. A child was killed instantly and his uncle was injured when they were thrown from a' hay wagon on which they were riding on a farm at Lichfield, Putaruru, today. The victim was Lionel Ashton Ranger, aged three, son of Mr Ashton Ranger, of Lichfield. When the pole chain of the wagon broke and the horses bolted both the child and his uncle, Mr George Peters, were thrown underneath the vehicle and the wheels passed, over them.
