(Special) WELLINGTON, February 23. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Fresh northerly winds backing to westerly. The weather cloudy and mild with occasional drizzle or rain extending from the west.
The weather in Invercargill'Yesterday was warm, calm, and overcast until late in the afternoon, when rain began to fall. At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was calm, mild, and overcast. The barometer reading was 29.61 in (falling).
