MOSQUITO BOMBERS
New Zealander’s Command (Special Correspondent, N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, September 30. Following the official announcement of the use of the Mosquito twin-engined light bombers, which are still on the secret list and which attacked the Gestapo’s headquarters at Oslo, it can be stated that Wing-Commander I. S. Smith, D.F.C. and bar, of Auckland, is commanding officer of a Mosquito squadron. The following have received temporary commissions in the. Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve:— Sub-Lieutenants—A. Miles, T. Wiren, F. H. Deverell (Wellington), J. P. May (Wanganui), A. H. Good (Taranaki). Fleet Air Arm Sub-Lieutenants—R. C. Ahearn, J. J. Loftus, R. J. Gall (Wellington), A. T. Raines (Dunedin), whose death has since been announced, and R. H. Greenway.
