INDIAN’S TAXI LICENCE

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, September 29. Mr Justice Frazer has disallowed an appeal by S. J. Ryan against the decision of the Metropolitan Licensing Authority in granting the transfer of a taxicab licence from L. W. Bonney to Bhana Ravia, an Indian. "There is nothing on record to the detriment of Ravia's personal character and his financial position appears satisfactory," said Mr Justice Frazer. “The legislation does not debar him from holding a licence and in the absence of legal proof of his unfitness I am unable to allow the appeal. I cannot assume, merely because he is an Indian, that he will break the law or otherwise conduct his business in an improper manner.”
