JEWELLERY THIEVES

(Rec. 85 p.m.) LONDON, September 27. A pearl necklace stated to be worth £25,000 was stolen from a West End hotel bedroom while its owner was absent. This is the eighth big London jewel robbery in seven weeks, all ap-, parently the work of the same gang, which in one instance left a card stating that it was sony to have been a bother and signed “The Seal” Eight theft* yielded between £40,000 and £50,000. Receivers are offering high prices for jewellery, which is scarce because it* manufacture has been banned for the duration.
