The Hon. Adam Hamilton, a member of the War Cabinet, is spending a few days in Southland. Mr A. E. Hefford, chief inspector of fisheries, is visiting Invercargill. He is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., chairman of No. 6 Armed Forces Appeal Board, arrived in Invercargill yesterday for a sitting of the board today. Captain L. A- Blackmore has returned north after visiting Invercargill to select Grade 3 men for camp duties. Flying Officer C. G. Gillies has arrived in Dunedin from Palmerston North to take over command of the Dunedin wing of the Air Training Corps. The Dunedin wing includes all the units in Otago and Southland. Advice has been received by the Church Army authorities that the Rev. Hubert H. Treacher, rector of Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, has been appointed to succeed the late Prebendary Carlile as general secretary of the Church Army.
