GIRL KILLED ON CROSSING
Railway Accident At Thornbury Beth Patricia, Foster, six-year-old daughter of Mr Kenrick Foster, farmer, of Thornbury, was killed at the Thombury railway crossing yesterday afternoon, A boy appears to have been the only eye-witness of the fatality. The little girl had been to the Thornbury store and was returning when the 4.10 p.m. Riverton-Invercargill tram _was approaching the crossing. The girl stopped to watch the train pass by, but apparently she got in too close to the line and, it is believed, was drawn in by the suction caused by the train. She was swept off her feet and carried along with the train and suffered injuries which caused her death soon after. An inquest will be held at Thornbury this afternoon. i SERIOUS INJURIES (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH. September 28. Severe injuries were received by John Fairbairn Faroer, aged 65, of Hornby, when he was struck by a train as he was leaving the railway yards at Templeton on Saturday night. His condition is serious.
