MAORIS’ PATRIOTIC EFFORT

(P.A.) HASTINGS, September 28. More than £l3OO has been raised by the Maori people of Hastings and the surrounding districts in two months for the fighting services appeal. In announcing this Mr A. Rainbow, chairman of the Hastings Zone Patriotic Committee, said the effort showed that the Maori was well able to match the pakeha in patriotism and community enthusiasm, for the sum was raised entirely without European aid.
