(P.A.) WELLINGTON, September 27. A national organization for the control and direction of all the men’s detachments of the New Zealand Red Cross Society was set up at a conference held yesterday. Dr Alexander Gillies, who presided, explained that the object was to co-ordinate the work of the men’s detachments which at present are functioning throughout the Dominion as separate units. The conference, which was attended by delegates from men’s detachments and representatives of the Army, Police . and Health Departments set up a Dominion council to act as a controlling body. Rules and regulations to ensure uniformity in training were adopted. The commandant-in-chief and other statt officers are to be selected later.
