RELICENSING OF MOTOR VEHICLES
Since the relicensing of motorvehicles began on June 2 officials at the Chief Post Office had their busiest day yesterday, when 83 licences were issued, bringing the total to date to 469. A number of persons who applied for new licences yesterday found that they could not be issued because they had forgotten to bring their unusued petrol coupons for date-stamping. This is absolutely essential. Licences cannot be issued unless the coupons are presented.
Every applicant for a licence has to fill in a form declaring the number of tyres and tubes, new, used, retreaded or repaired, that he has in his possession apart from the normal wheel equipment of his vehicle, including one spare wheel. If he has no extra tyres and tubes he has still to sign the form and make a “nil” return.
