WEATHER IN MAY During the month of May there was a big decrease in rainfall and an increase in the number of hours of sunshine at Gore compared with the figures for May last year. The rainfall for the month totalled 2.52 inches, compared with 5.13 inches for the same month last year, and the aggregate for the five months was 15.75 inches, compared with 18.75 inches. The sun shone for 128 hours during the month, compared with 99 hours in May last year. The total for the five months was 847 hours, which is only five minutes behind the total for the same period in 1941. GOLF: The Gore Golf Club conducted a Stableford handicap match on its links at Croydon when a fairly large number of members took part. Conditions were ideal and the greens were fast. The match was won by J. P. Bishop, with a net score of 37, and W. F. Young and A. T. Strang were run-ners-up.
