The Rev. Father Philip Murphy, 0.F.M,. of Auckland, has been visiting Invercargill to conduct retreats. He will travel to Dunedin today and return to Invercargill on June 14. Mr Brian Dunning, of Auckland, director of the crusade for social justice, will arrive in Invercargill from the north today and will address a meeting this evening. Mr W. A. Armour, who has been principal of Wellington College for the last 14 years, will retire from this position at the close of the present school year. On his retirement Mr Armour will have completed 46 years of teaching. He was born in Dunedin, and was educated at the Otago Boys’ High School and the Otago University, graduating M.A. and M.Sc. with honours. He was an assistant master at Wanganui Collegiate School from 1902 to 1905. From there he came to the South School, Invercargill for a year, and then went to the Otago Boys’ High School as assistant master. In 1912 he was appointed principal of the Wanganui Technical College, but three years later became headmaster of th" Napier Boys’ High School, which position he held from 1915 to 1927, when he took up his appointment at Wellington College. He is a brother of Mr J. N. Armour, of Invercargill.
